Heavenly Father, through Our Lady Queen of Peace,
We pray for Russia:
Complete the good work You have begun there.
Convert it and bring peace to the world.
Russian Apostolate
Precious Life Missions was started to help in the work of bringing souls to Christ
through providing small books on the Catholic Faith to those who are working in
countries where the faith is so badly needed. There are very few books on the Faith
in Russia and even fewer for children.
Of course, prayer is the main thing, but
we also hope that God has a plan for these books. With the help of a wonderful Catholic
Foundation, we were able to print both a small abridged version of Fr. McLean Cummings’
homilies and our children’s sacrament book in Russian and are very grateful
to God for how He has blessed our small efforts.
Mission Update
We’ve heard from the mission in Vladivostok that both these books are being
used for catechesis, not only in Vladivostok but in many parishes in Eastern Russia
- all the way over to the border of China. Through the donations of many generous
souls, we have been able to send boxes of books to parishes in Kursk, Gvardeisk,
Moscow, St. Petersburg and Siberia, as well as to orphanages and missionary orders
such as the Community of St. John who have an apostolate for children in Southern
Russia. Many of the children there have no home or are in households destroyed by
alcoholism, so the sisters in the little village of Naltchik have become like family
to them. A wonderful African priest who is working in Russia, helped us to send
boxes of books to the Catechetical offices of all four Russian Dioceses, to Kaliningrad,
Irkutsk, Saratov, Novosibirsky.
The Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of Matara, have convents in each of the
Russian Dioceses and have been wonderful about distributing our books there. They
have built a new church in the village of Kazan which is the home of their first
Russian vocation, Sister Mary Radcoscy. She is now the Provential Mother Superior
of their order and we were very blessed to meet her when she was in the United States
two summers ago to speak during some Propagation of the Faith Mission Appeals. Their
work touches a great number of souls as many of the faithful travel to the Shrine
of Our Lady of Kazan, where their Mother House is located.
We would be so grateful for your prayers for this apostolate, that our books will
touch many hearts. The donations we receive from our English books allow us to send
boxes of books to Russia and are so greatly appreciated.
