The Little Catepillar
Chapter 1 - The Eucharist

The little caterpillar was so overwhelmed with joy that she felt as though she might start to cry. "God, You love me?"

Tears came to her eyes as she heard the word, "Yes."

Then Jesus said to her, "I am the Bread of Life." Although the little caterpillar didn't quite understand everything that Jesus had said, she knew that everything He had said was true, because He is God.

Looking at the host, the priest spoke the words of Jesus: "Take this, all of you, and eat it. This is My Body..." As he spoke these words, the bread became the Body of Jesus. Then he held up the chalice, and again spoke the words which Jesus had spoken the night of His Last Supper, "This is My Blood..." and the wine in the chalice became His Blood.

The little butterfly wept with gratitude at seeing this great miracle. Jesus was giving to mankind His own precious Body which He had sacrificed on the cross to save them. He was giving them His own Precious Blood which He shed for them so that their sins would be washed away.

Jesus lifted His hand high. The little butterfly fluttered her beautiful wings, filled with gratitude and love. All of a sudden she found herself floating in the air. She could fly! The little butterfly's heart was racing with joy. She was a butterfly and she belonged to Jesus!

The little butterfly never forgot that all the beauty of the created world put together could never compare to the beauty and joy of God Himself . . and His great gift of Himself in the Holy Eucharist.
